It’s been a while since I did my last blog post so far here’s what happened.
After weeks of waiting, hoping and checking my email, dashboard on the 2nd of July early morning I decided to check my email through my phone while still half asleep and I saw two of the following magical emails from Disney:- !!!
1) Disney International Programs: Complete your Role Checklist!
2) Disney International Programs: Invite to Schedule Presentation & Interview
Getting those two emails was just the most exciting moment ever after weeks of waiting, it was there finally. After that I just could not go back to sleep anymore. All of a sudden I was fully wide awake with excitement informed my mum straight away. I rushed back to my room, logged on to my laptop and flicked the emails open to select my interview slot and check out the roles that were offered for Australian and New Zealand applicants.
The interview invitation was a very straight forward email. All I had to do was click on the link they sent me and select one of the interview time slots and the location. So I obviously chose the location closest to me which was happening at my uni and I decided to pick the interview time slot between 1-2pm. After I had done that it immediately sent me a confirmation email.
The presentation was scheduled to take place from 8-9 am on the 7th of August, which means I had about 4 hrs of wait between the presentation and my interview. I had to pick my times within 5 days of receiving that email; otherwise, Disney would assume that I wasn't interested anymore.
So after that was done, now filling out the role checklist was the hardest part, as I absolutely had no idea what I was going to put down as my high, low or moderate interest. So it took me about two days to decide what were going to be my high Interest roles and I chose Merchandise, attractions and Character attendant and I put the rest as moderate Interest. All I had to do was select the options beside each role indicating high interest, low Interest, no interest or moderate interest and submit it, by electronically signing my name at the bottom of the checklist which I finally did!
After that, it was the whole entire month of waiting again but this time for that golden day. So I spent my time preparing for it by filling out the possible interview questions put together by the awesome Lily on the ICP Facebook group page and I also met up with Sophie from the Facebook group page a few days before our interview and together we went to see the careers adviser about the interview advice. The careers adviser guy told us that “there is not such thing as a casual interview”, which I had an absolute doubt about because I have watched so many vlogs and read blogs about people who previously have done the DICP program and all they had to say was relax and be yourself, its not an intimidating interview, but a friendly casual chat! So I don’t know what that guy was going on about, he absolutely had no idea what he was talking about!
If you are interested you can check out the list of all the possible interview questions on this document right here! and hopefully it will be helpful to you when you're preparing and practising for your interview.
